You will find at least one promotion, writing or tech tip on every page on this site. Sometimes you'll find, two or three! Happy browsing and collecting! Endorsement: I wanted to tell you how your workshops, reading your newsletter, and just chatting with you has been a great help to me. I have a background in marketing from the fashion world and even though it has helped me get my foot in the door, I honestly have to say that after getting to know you, reading your books, and everything else I just said has truly helped me put Stories for Children Magazine on the map. ~VS Grenier, Founder and Editor-in-Chief Stories for Children Magazine ~~~
Carolyn sponsors the Noble (Not Nobel!) Prize for literary efforts that explore the human condition, use exemplary English or experiment with it. She eschews titles that have already won prestigious prizes or appear on bestseller lists. In other words, she wants to build lists each year that feature works that deserve more attention than they're getting. Contact Carolyn for information on submitting a nomination. Go to MyShelf to read her Back to Literature column where she announces her awards each January.

Tip: How, in a bookstores full of thousands of titles, does a reader choose yours? Maybe because a little medal lives on your book cover that tells a browser that there's a good reason to expect your book may be better than the average bear. How do you convince an editor that you are newsworthy, that you are credible. Perhaps they'll be impressed because of the awards by your name. Now, here's the big secret. It often makes no difference how prestigious the award is. Casual readers may not understand the difference between a Pulitzer and a Pushcart or a Preditor and Editor's Poll. Editors (other than book editors) don't either. All they know is they have eight column inches to fill and your award may convince them to fill them with something about you. Find at least one tip on writing, promotion or tech on every page of this

Important Resources Book Proposal Help Former book acquisitions editor Terry Whalin says, "editors and publishers don't read manuscripts. They read book proposals. In Book Proposals That Sell: 21 Secrets to Speed Your Success, you learn the inside scoop to achieve your dreams." I highly recommend it. Promotion ServicesYou'll find direction in the Frugal Book Promoter for building your own media kit; if you choose not to build your own, the information there will make you a better partner for a publicist you might hire to help you. I recommend PressKit 24/7, the brainchild of publicists with over forty years' experience. We know the speed at which you need to work, and we know what it takes to get the media's attention. It was critical for us to be able to create professional online press kits for our own clients. So we understand what you need for yours.
